Movie Review John Wick *****

movie john wick

I saw John Wick on HBO because I heard John Wick 2 is coming to theaters soon and I missed it when it was in the theater. This is a Keanu Reeves movie about a hitman who comes out of retirement after a mob kingpin’s son kills his dog and steals his car. The young man doesn’t know who John Wick is, and thinks that it is no big deal because he is the son of the most powerful Russian mobster, and John Wick must be over the hill because he has retired. He learns quickly that this most formidable foe will stop at nothing to get even. Revenge is the theme. Relentless killing is the game.

This is definitely an adult movie. Leave the kids at home. It is hard to believe that one man can kill so many high-end professional thugs in one movie. The preferred method of death is a shot to the head. John Wick is relentless in his pursuit of vengeance, calmly prodding along from one action scene to the next kicking ass and eliminating everyone who tries to stop him. The story is quirky, but it is told well. The action is non-stop. The choreography might be the best I’ve ever seen in an action movie. I loved it. 5 out of 5 stars.
