Movie Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ****

movie teenage mutant ninja turtlesBased on the cartoon series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the modern version of near-human hero turtles who fight to save New York City. A fluff reporter, April O’Neil, happens upon vigilantes who are protecting the docks from the evil Foot Clan who are stealing chemicals in large quantities. No one believes her when she tells about the mutant turtles who are teenage ninjas. She discovers that these heroes might be the result of her father’s failed experiments from years ago. The evil leader, Shredder, has plans to decimate NYC with a virus, then have a henchman supply the antidote that the city will pay dearly to cure the sick. There is a conflict, a battle, and a resolution that occur without evidence of the turtles existence.

This is a very well done movie with a lot of CGI. You will believe 4 turtles can talk, and fight, and skateboard, and parkour, and beat-box. The origins of the turtles and their connection with April O’Neil is well-told. The plot is good, the story is good, the fight scenes are good, the characters are well-developed. There is a hilarious bonus scene during the credits, but nothing at the end. I liked it. 4 out of 5 stars.
